6/12/2023 0 Comments Two Pet Dicks by John InmanSo… most of me simply loved this and found the quirkiness of the characters (especially the judgmental Pedro) to be hilarious, but I was a bit shocked by how Stanley was portrayed and a little put off by his demise. Sure, he was a dick, but really – he’s dead! And he’s Frank’s brother and Frank is a sweetie. I was sad for his death and even sadder that no one else was sad. I would have appreciated just a little bit of explanation how Joe (super awesome dad) and Frank (the nicest guy in the world) could be related to the psycho. Even his own father thought he was a dick. Why, why, why would Tom still be Jerry’s friend? It sounds like he was an idiot who dumped a wonderful guy (Tom) for a psychopath! Second, Stanley went from your basic home-wrecker to deranged, druggy, greedy psycho pretty quickly. First, the fact that Jerry was with him and he was such an obvious dick made me question Tom’s judgment- especially since apparently their “marriage” was dismissed so easily and casually by Jerry. But… I really, really, really didn’t like the way Stanley was handled. I thought it suited their characters and fit in with their own desperate need to find someone to be an anchor in their lives. Second, I thought the two MCs were hilarious and sweet and so cute together it almost gave me a cavity! Third, I didn’t mind their insta-love one bit. He makes it so easy to just jump right in to the mix and feel like you are part of the scene. First, I love John Inman’s writing style. I have some mixed feelings about this story.

6/12/2023 0 Comments A million pieces bookTIFF Adds Sam Taylor-Johnson's 'A Million Little Pieces,' Paul Greengrass' ‘22 July’, Joel Edgerton's 'Boy Erased' To Preem Listīut time heals, and what remains is a book that has offered hope to addicts. Oprah dropped her endorsement Frey’s literary agent dumped him over “trust issues,” and his publisher had to settle lawsuits and offer refunds to disgruntled readers. Winfrey, who felt duped and betrayed to have strongly recommended a book and devoted a previous episode to extolling its virtues, subjected author and editor to a relentless hourlong grilling over incidents in the book that were embellished or which didn’t happen as described by Frey, who first circulated A Million Little Pieces as a novel, but was told it had to be called a memoir in order to get it published. Instead, they found themselves alone on stage. Oprah brought Frey back out to defend himself, along with his editor Nan Talese, ostensibly to be part of a panel on truth. But it all blew up when press stories exposed that Frey had falsified elements of his background and the fate of characters in the Hazelden rehab clinic in Minnesota. When A Million Little Pieces was first published, it announced Frey as a major new literary voice-endorsed by Oprah Winfrey herself-and landed him a fast-tracked studio adaptation at Warner Bros. It’s a dark, scrappy, low-budget affair-necessary to relieve the pressure that led to the implosion of the studio version of this adaptation a decade and a half ago. 6/12/2023 0 Comments Stephen king duma key synopsisBag of Bones (1998), a big sloppy mess of a ghost story, in particular appeared a willful repudiation of the impulse toward more refined work. This could most readily be ascribed to the 1999 accident, in which he nearly died after being run down by a van near his home in Maine, but might as easily be seen as the result of a continual conflict between his very great literary gifts and a steadfast allegiance to the pulp fiction that formed his sensibility as a boy.įor after garnering serious critical attention in the 1990s for psychological suspense novels like Dolores Claiborne and Gerald’s Game, which seemed to be moving toward a mature and happy marriage of entertainment and literature, he returned, perhaps spooked by the attention, to the familiar comforts of the kind of horror novel that first made his name in the 1970s. His recent output, though scarcely less protean than before he announced retirement in 2002, has been spotty at best. Duma Key, Stephen King’s terrific new novel, constitutes a return to form for a beloved pop novelist who has seemed, for many years now, to be running out of steam. 6/11/2023 0 Comments Crossfire series one with youThe few books of the series felt too stretched out, and this book is just more of the same – Gideon and Eva sorting through their issues, declaring undying love to each other, and standing up to people who want to hurt them. The coming together of two incredibly damaged people has been beautifully told by Sylvia Day, and the chemistry and connection between these two characters has pretty much leapt off the page! The angst, steamy passion and heart-clenching emotion that Day put into the story kept mesmerised in the first few books, but having said that, I feel that their story could have been told in less books. But I will say that if you’ve read any of the books of this series, then you’ll know exactly what to expect in this one because it’s just more of the same. I’m not going to rehash the storyline, because if you’re a fan of the series you’ll know where these characters are at. I’ve been a fan of this series since Bared to You was first released, and I have followed Gideon and Eva’s intense and passionate romance across 5 books now, and though this one provided the happy ending that we all want for them, as a book it left me kind of underwhelmed. Finally! The finale to the Crossfire series. I LOVED Leo and thought he was extremely well written. Overall, I loved this story truly an impossible read amongst a lot of the same old stories out there these days. The story does include cheating yet that isn’t the basis of this story and the author throws in a very, very, good reveal and will spin everything you know up to that point on its axis. Our heroine tries to scare her husband into caring/noticing her and his reaction shocks her and this reader. The author writes the heroine’s day-to-day very well as we get to know her married girlfriends and a younger man named Jared who’s very interested in Lila. Because if he won’t do it, then they only person who can fix this pain and make me happy again is me.” I think it needs to snap once and for all. I can’t keep hanging on by a frayed thread. From the first page, her cries for any sort of reaction from Leo that he cares that their marriage is sinking is heartbreaking. The story is about a wife and mother of two, Lia who has been married for ten years to her husband Leo. Her writing is solid, sexy, and suspenseful.
